Susan Peterson, PhD

Susan serves as Shockwave Medical’s Vice President for R&D pipeline activities. She joined Shockwave in May 2021 as Director for R&D.

Prior to Shockwave, Susan worked in R&D for Medtronic Vascular over 16 ½ years across roles of increasing responsibility, leading device development including drug-eluting stents, aortic stent grafts, drug-coated balloons and endovascular arteriovenous fistula creation.  Susan also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Cambridge, collaborating with the medical school and department of engineering.

Susan earned her Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Cambridge, England, where she attended as a Marshall Scholar, and her B.S.E. degree in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University.
