Itsuo Sugiura

Itsuo Sugiura joined in 2020 and is Vice President and General Manager of Shockwave Medical Japan K.K.
He started his career as a CRA in research and development at Eli Lilly. After working as an R&D Manager, he moved to sales and marketing where he was a leader in the pharmaceutical business as Global Marketing Director. His career also includes time spent at Boston Scientific, as Marketing Director of the Interventional Cardiology Division and Director of Clinical Marketing. Prior to joining Shockwave, he restructured the Real-World Evidence Services division as Business Unit Head of IQVIA.
Itsuo earned a bachelor’s degree in Physiological Chemistry in Agriculture and a master’s degree in Biochemistry from Gifu University.
